Raw Food Roundup; Snacks and Desserts

I’ve been experimenting a lot with raw foodism of late, though I’ve been rather slack in regards to taking photographs. Blame the consistently poor lighting in my kitchen/flat! So here’s a brief overview of some of my experiments.

1. Raw Cacao Crunch Cookies

These were an original recipe; I basically mixed puffed buckwheat (soak raw buckwheat then dehydrate until crispy), hazelnut and almond meals, cacao powder, and agave nectar. Then shaped into balls and dehydrated for about 12-24 hours, depending on how dry you want your cookies.

2. Dehydrator load ready to go

Back two mats; raw cacao crunch cookies. Middle row; cacao crunch cookies on left, and lemon/almond/coconut cookies (just mix almond meal, shredded coconut, and fresh squeezed lemon juice and zest) on the right. Front row; kale chips (basically capsicum, cashews, nutritional/savoury yeast).

3. Cashew ice-cream bars

The easy and delicious way to make ice cream! These bars are cashew/date/banana on the left, and cashew/date/banana on the bottom with chocolate banana on top. Chop dates and soak overnight. Put cashews in the blender and reduce to a meal; add a very ripe banana (chopped), the drained dates, vanilla essence/bean, a little agave nectar, and blend. Use the date soaking water as needed to make a thick cream. Pour into moulds or a freezer-safe container and freeze. For chocolate, just add cacao powder; mint chocolate and orange chocolate are also excellent flavours.

Sacred Art: Green Tara and The Morrighan

Yet another installment in my “Goddess” series of paintings, using watercolours on cheap canvas.

The first painting draws upon Hindu lore, and depicts the Green Tara, along with her mantra in Sanskrit at the top (Om tare tuttare ture soha);

This one one I actually did specifically as a present for my sister, though keeping it to myself was awfully tempting. It’s a very “pretty” version of the Irish war Goddess The Morrighan, and the skulls are painted silver;

And here’s a bonus “symbolism painting” I did (it’s rather basic), depicting the ‘sunset’ of Christianity and the ‘sunrise’ of Earth-based worship;

Kitten-Sitting Part 2

Welcome to the second installment of ridiculous cuteness, courtesy of photographs of cat and kittens. The neighbours who own them have suddenly moved, so no more kitty cuddles for me… somewhat devestated. At least I have memories, and pictures:

Kitten-sitting!

Sorry for the delay in updating, I spent the past week and a bit at my dad’s, in order to take care of his neighbour’s cat Princess and her day-old kittens. Princess is my surrogate kitty, whom I love and who loves me, and the kittens are CUTE BEYOND BELIEF! There were four kittens, but she only has two teats, so only two lived past a few days; these two I named Winky and Boofhead.

In between squeeing at the kittens and cuddling Princess (and later, the kittens), I took a couple of hundred photographs of them. Here is part 1 of 2 lots of cat photo’s!
